    Second Wind: Do you have specific techniques you use to develop the plot and stay on track?

    Smith Hagaman: I think the writer, E.L. Doctorow, had it right for me.“It’s like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.” I follow where my mind takes me and \ then I research where I’ve gotten to.
